ABOUT ME
I’m Amanda, wife of over 30 years, and mother to three amazing young women. My life and work are shaped by a deep commitment to faith, family, and helping others find clarity, healing, and renewed hope.
I bring a uniquely diverse professional background to my counseling practice through various life experiences--from sales and banking, to teaching and pastoral ministry. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling, and have been a licensed counselor for over 10 years. I specialize in working with trauma, couples, women, and individuals navigating faith transitions.

My practice, PureHeart, is inspired by my life verse, Psalm 51:10: “Create in me a pure heart and renew a right spirit within me.” This verse reflects my desire to walk alongside clients as they pursue emotional healing, personal growth, and lives rooted in truth and joy.

EXPERIENCE
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) serves as the foundation of my clinical work. I value CBT for its structured, evidence-based approach and its success in helping clients to recognize how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. With this knowledge, clients can begin to make intentional changes that support emotional stability, healthier relationships, and improved overall functioning.
In addition to CBT, I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) , Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Family Systems techniques into my work, depending on each client’s needs and goals. I am therefore able to assist clients who are dealing with mental/emoitonal instability (Eg. Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Emotional dysregulation, etc), relationship and family issues (marital and premarital counseling), grief and traumatic experiences.

While women in various stages of life make up a significant portion of my practice, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals, couples, and families. I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client’s unique circumstances, recognizing that no single method fits every person or situation. My style is collaborative, compassionate, and practical, offering both support and gentle challenge as clients work toward meaningful change.
Ultimately, my goal is to create an environment where clients feel safe, understood, and respected--where they can gain insight and skills needed to work thru life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
